Hi! I'm Dr. Bethany Caulkins! I am an assistant professor of chemistry, and I teach physical chemistry, advanced lab, and a natural science GE course in the Department of Natural Sciences of Pitzer and Scripps Colleges. I started my educational journey at Antelope Valley College in Lancaster, CA, where I earned an AA in liberal studies and an AS in physical sciences. I then transferred to CSU San Bernardino, where I obtained my BS in Chemistry. During my time there, I completed an internship at the USDA, where I was encouraged to apply for graduate school. I did and ultimately attended UC Riverside, where I earned my PhD in Chemistry with Prof. Len Mueller, followed by a postdoctoral position at USC Keck School of Medicine in the lab of Prof. Ansgar Siemer. My love of teaching and interacting with students brought me to the Claremont Colleges, where I have been teaching and researching since 2018, first in the role of visiting faculty member and joining the tenure-track faculty in 2021.
